Dendritic Ulcers

Usually slightly reduced
Stickiness?
No
Laterality?
Always unilateral.
Pain?
Usually some slight pain. Often a foreign body sensation.
Visual acuity?
Usually about 6/12
Where is the redness?
Around the limbus (the junction of the sclera and cornea)
Stain on cornea?
Yes – in dendritic branching pattern. If long-standing or if the patient has inadvertently been given topical steroids, the branching patterns may coalesce and form a geographic ulcer.
Pupil?
Normal
Is the cornea clear?
Under the staining linear ulcerations, the cornea tends to be clear
Conjunctival appearance?
Normal
