Mr Amar Alwitry undertook his training in Nottingham and Derby and he has settled as a Consultant Ophthalmologist in the Midlands.
He has been awarded the prestigious "Ophthalmologist of the Year (Midlands)" award in the Healthcare and Pharma Awards 2022, the “Global 100 Best UK Ophthalmologist 2020” and the “GHP Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Best Ophthalmologist in the East Midlands“ for three years in a row.
He has written two text books and edited a third. He has published more than 35 research articles and has a Masters in Medical Law. He is the forefront medicolegal expert in Ophthalmology in the UK.
He sees patients privately at Nottingham Woodthorpe Private Hospital, the BMI Park Private Hospital and the Spire Nottingham Private Hospital.
He has published two medical texts and edited a third.
He has published more than 35 articles in medical literature and also published two novels/works of fiction (Emergence and Coercion – both available on Amazon.co.uk).
He has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Cataract and Refractive Surgery so is specifically trained in this field over and above the standard consultant training. He is a Speciality Advisor in Ophthalmology to the Care Quality Commission. He is also the Medical Advisory Committee Chairman at Ramsay Hospital Nottingham and Medical Ambassador for PSIRF for Spire Hospitals.
He has special interest and expertise in small incision bespoke cataract surgery, glaucoma, lid procedures and macular pathology.
