Ingrowing Lashes/Trichiasis

What’s going on?

Some eyelashes are pointing backwards and rubbing up and down the surface of the eye with each blink. The position of the lid tends to be normal. Unsurprisingly it continually feels like there is something in the eye.

What will my ophthalmologist see?

We can pinpoint the position of the lash(s) which are causing the problem and also make sure that the lid position is satisfactory.

What will my ophthalmologist do for me?

In the short term we can remove these lashes at the slit lamp. They may grow back however and sometimes we can undertake other procedures to get rid of them permanently.
