Your patient had a high-pressure rise after the optometrist dilated their pupils

The concern is angle-closure glaucoma. If the pressure rose above 30mmHg and failed to return to normal, the patient should be referred immediately/urgently. The pressure may go up transiently after dilating drops and return to normal after a short while.
