Poor vision after NHS cataract surgery to left eye – now binocular 6/6 N5 unaided

duet

Mrs HR is a lovely 62 year old lady who came to see me after a disappointing visual outcome in her left eye after cataract surgery.

Pre-op she was Right -7.50/-0.25 x90 and Left -10.00

She had her left sided cataract surgery and ended up +1.50/-0.75 x140.

She presented to me unhappy with the distance and near vision in her left eye.

She under went implantation of a Left Sulcoflex sulcus trifocal intraocular lens and then right sided cataract surgery with a monofocal intraocular lens in the bag and supplementary Sulcoflex trifocal intraocular lens placed into the ciliary sulcus.

She now achieves 6/6 unaided distance vision and N5 unaided near vision.

“I have to say a massive 'thank you' to you for helping me through a difficult journey with my cataracts. I just knew that the first NHS operation was not right for me and my circumstances. I am so glad that I insisted on getting another opinion so that I could cancel my second NHS procedure. You listened to my concerns and took them seriously and presented me with options and good advice. I shall be eternally grateful to you for restoring not just my sight but my self-confidence too. Trying to recover from breaking both my arms from my riding accident last September has been challenging to say the least and continues to be work in progress. You have been kind, considerate and positive at a time when my life was turned upside down. I really needed your expertise, wisdom and positivity. The results are amazing, I can see really well for near, middle and far distance. It is what I hoped for, and the sense of relief is massive. Thank you so much.”
